Sofia, the instructor we have been paired with, is great with my kids, and they were so scared of putting their heads under water before starting, and I’ve seen so much progress in 4 lessons so far. I’m very happy with sunsational swim school! - Natasha Banos

I researched several swim schools and decided on Sunsational and I am SO glad I did! They have the bios of each instructor so I was able to research them and they were so willing to work with me to find a female instructor for my 2 grand daughters ages 2 & 4! We were very blessed to get Renee and WOW! She was SO patient and calming with the girls and worked with our schedule! By the 3rd lesson the 4 year old was starting to overcome her fear of putting her face in the water and able to swim several feet! Highly recommend this school and Renee if you're lucky enough to get her!

Denise S.

We are so lucky to have Isabel as my granddaughter's swim instructor! Isabel's ability to communicate to my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter and have her understand what is needed of her to be successful in learning to swim is incredible! We have seen amazing progress in the past month! My granddaughter loves Isabel

'Ivan was an amazing instructor for our 18-month-old son. It was our son’s first experience with swimming lessons and Ivan was able to make our boy comfortable from the very start. He did an awesome job during the six lessons we had with him, our boy had a great time and was super excited to start whenever he arrived. We’re sad we won’t be able to continue with Ivan, but we would highly recommend him to any parent looking for a swimming instructor.' Laura F

Very impressed with Sunsational's pool of instructors, and the ease working with them when I needed a resplacement instructor. My 2.5 year old grandson had private lessons with Kim and she was fabulous at getting him to into the water and learning the basics. Her patience was above and beyond. I plan on engaging Sunsational for my granddaughter once she is old enough.

Danielle is fantastic! My 2.5 yo took lessons from her for six consecutive days and could float, kick and find the steps and wall. She is kind and patient but also consistent and firm. We feel so lucky to have been matched with her!

So glad I chose y'all! I am so pleased with everything my daughter was very nervous and not wanting to get in the pool. Isabel is the best teacher she was so sweet and patient with my daughter in the way she worked with her now my daughter is comfortable swimming.

Haymanot W.

Ivan was very patient with my 2.5 year old who was anxious about going underwater. This was her first swim lesson experience and he was able to make it fun and relatable for a toddler. She finished her 6 lessons with some basic swimming skills and Ivan shared some techniques for us to continue to practice and work on throughout the summer. Thanks, Coach Ivan!

Alicia B.

We are so happy with Shawn! She has worked really hard to get to know my children and I'm amazed at what they have learned in a short period of time and she always works with our limited schedule.

Rebecca G.

Evelyn has been fantastic with my son. He is not quite two and was nervous about swimming with a stranger at first, but Evelyn was super patient and accommodating about finding the right schedule for him. She was also creative in her approach and made the lessons so fun that he has totally warmed up to her and has such a good time each lesson. I can definitely see that his confidence and water skills have improved even at such a young age.

We were so happy to work with Danielle this summer. She was very professional and punctual. My three children have made such wonderful progress. Our 2 year old can float and has learned other water safety measures. Our two older children have gained so much confidence and are learning new skills. We can't say enough things about her work. We hope she is available again next year!

We had a wonderful experience with Ivan as our daughter Olivia's swim teacher. Over the course of 12 lessons, Ivan consistently showed up prepared, on time, and fully engaged. At the beginning, Olivia was quite timid and hesitant in the water, but Ivan's patient and kind approach helped her quickly build trust and confidence. As the weeks went on, we saw incredible growth not only in her comfort level but also in her swimming abilities. Ivan had a great way of making the lessons fun while still focusing on important safety skills, which was perfect for our two-year-old. After each session, Ivan took the time to give me a detailed summary of what they had worked on and how Olivia was progressing. He was also very flexible with scheduling, which we really appreciated. We're so grateful for the positive experience Ivan provided. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a swim instructor who is professional, caring, and great with young children.

Bella S is a phenomenal teacher. She adapts with ease according to my toddler son’s interests and attention and uses gentle language to encourage and push him. Not only has he learned so much, he also has fun with her and is always happy to see her. We feel truly fortunate to have been matched with her. - Massiel Cohn

We purchased the 12 30min lesson package for our 22 month old. It was the best decision we've ever made. I can't say enough great things about our experience with our instructor, Savannah Moore. Our girl went from crying, screaming and signing 'help me' during the first lesson to jumping in the water, going under water and then reaching for the wall during her last lesson. Savannah's patience during the meltdowns was amazing to watch (and truly inspiring. Ha!) We will absolutely be requesting Savannah next year's swim lessob

Cadi F.

Ivan was a fantastic instructor! He was engaging and make the lessons fun for my son. He was on time and had great communication with us! My son is 22 months and he made him feel confident with water safety. We are so happy he can get to the edges of the pool and climb out. He can even do fun activities like getting toys from the bottom of the pool! Would recommend him to anyone!

Hannah was the perfect teacher for my grandson. My 2 year old grandson thoroughly enjoyed the swim lessons with Hannah! She was so encouraging and he really got into swimming with her. She brought toys, rings, goggles, and even asked him what color noodle he wanted her to bring. We just did a 6 lesson package, and I'm thinking we will do more through Sunsational Swim School either later this summer or for sure next year. And will request Hannah again!

I considered several swimming schools in my area and ultimately ended up with Sunsational. I now know that I made the best decision. Ivan was a wonderful instructor. Initially my 2-year-old daughter was hesitant to stay in the pool with him, by the conclusion of her lessons, her swimming improved greatly and was running to greet Ivan for her session. I definitely recommend sunsational.

'We are very pleased with the results. Jason taught our daughter how to float, and how to propel forward with a kickboard while looking in the water. She is also no longer afraid of water splashing on her face.' ' Our adult daughter with DS can now float, put her face in the water, and propel herself using a kick-board without fear. Thank you Jason! Jason was patient, knowledgeable, and communicated with us what the expectations were from the start. We signed her up for only 6 lessons but were so impressed, we decided to enroll her for 6 more. We truly enjoyed watching our girl thrive through all 12 swimming lessons.' 'Choosing Sunsational Swim School was a given for us. The option of having the instructor come to our home and teach our daughter in our own pool was convenient. Jason was patient, and friendly. Our daughter is now able to float, put her face in the water, propel herself with a kick board, and lift herself on the side of the pool without steps. It is quite impressive to watch her. Thank you, Jason and Sunsational Swim School!!' Olga H.

We were so happy to find Sunsational Swim School and be able to have someone come to our house to teach our 3 year old grandson to swim. They picked the perfect instructor to meet our needs. Christina R understood how to work with a three year old by using songs and references from his favorite shows and characters. Our grandson did so well with the one on one lesson and is now able to swim to the side of the pool and get out on his own. Our goal for this summer was definetly accomplished.

5 reasons to start swim lessons for your baby now

Many Keller parents wonder if their baby is too young to start learning to swim. They think babies will eventually learn the skills on their own, or that the skill isn’t necessary. Here’s why starting lessons early is a smart choice:

Water safety starts early

Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children under four. Babies are naturally curious, which is why baby swimming lessons make so much sense. An awareness of the water, and water safety skills, could very well save your child’s life one day.

Decreased risk of drowning

It’s impossible to watch over your children every second. Most daycare facilities have pool or splash days during the summer or have field trips that include water fun. Children can drown in less than 1 inch of water, particularly if the person is under the age of 4. Swimming lessons help decrease the risk of drowning.

Encourages social interaction

Swimming and playing in the pool with parents and other babies helps boost babies' social development.  Babies learn through shared experiences, laughter, and engaging in activities together. Your child shouldn't have to skip these character-forming moments due to a fear of the water or because you simply haven't found the time for swim lessons.

Builds their strength

For babies, swimming helps strengthen their muscles, improve coordination, and enhance their motor skills – all without any unnecessary stress on joints. Plus, the water’s resistance provides a full-body workout, even for the tiniest of swimmers. Swimming may even help learn to walk sooner thanks to better muscle control.

Lifelong skill that starts early

Swimming is a skill for life. Providing your baby with swimming lessons opens up a whole new arena of fun and fitness that they can participate in all their lives. If you don't know how to swim, consider taking a parent and baby swim class together or taking adult swim lessons on your own. Create core memories in the water, together!

How parent and baby swim lessons help build confidence around the water

Babies as young as six months old benefit from pool time in the arms of a trusted adult. Infant swim lessons allow your child to enjoy the water before they have a chance to learn fear. Positive pool experiences help babies remain calm so they can progress to learn effective water navigation skills such as kicking and back floats.

How parent and baby swim lessons help image
75%of children who drown were out of sight for five minutes or less
9 out of 10drowning deaths occur while an adult is present

The benefits of swim lessons extend beyond the pool. The sensory and motor stimulation resulting from pool time creates new neurons that positively impact confidence and even intelligence. Bilateral movements, or using both sides of the body, help increase the connections between the two hemispheres of the brain, which will later help with skills like language development, spatial awareness and reading.

How to prepare your baby for swim lessons

Not ready for a formal class yet? Start at home! Simple activities in the bathtub, like gently pouring water over your baby’s head, introducing words like “kick” and “splash”, or laying them on their back in shallow water, can help them feel comfortable in the water before their first lesson.

When you’re ready for the pool, help your baby be successful with these tips:

  • 1
Feed them at least 30 minutes before a lesson to prevent tummy discomfort
  • 2
Pack essentials like swim diapers, towels, dry clothes, and fresh diapers
  • 3
Arrive early so you have time to get ready
  • 4
Ease into the water to keep the experience positive

Water safety is always the number one priority

Even the most comprehensive and successful water training program isn’t enough to drown-proof your child. Babies should always be within arm’s reach in the water, and children should never swim unsupervised. The goal of baby swimming lessons is to reduce the chance of accidental drowning, but it can’t guarantee to prevent it completely. Even if your little one was the star of the class, you should still be vigilant in your supervision to ensure that the water provides positive experiences for years to come.

I have recently taken a pause from being a registered behavior therapist in the ABA field to focus more on school and my business. I have been a master water safety instructor and trainer since February 2018. I have worked with babies as young as 4 months and kids as old as 13. I am excited to teach a wide range of skills from basic safety and water adjustment to different strokes to prepare for a swim team.

Hello! My name is Joseph Park. I have been a swimmer my whole life as I have been on the swim team growing up and a lifeguard when I became older. As someone who was once afraid of water and learned to call the water my second home, I would love to help and walk (or swim) through this journey with whoever wishes to share this experience and become a lifelong swimmer too!

Got questions?

We have answers. What age can babies start swim lessons?

No. Sunsational Swim School’s infant swim lessons are based on a child-centered and caring approach that focuses on building trust and rapport with the instructor and wonderment and respect of the water. When designing your baby’s swim lesson plan, our instructors consider all aspects of the well-being of your baby, including physical and emotional. Your swim instructor will create a safe environment for your baby to learn water-safety skills that include back floating, roll over breathing, “swim-float-swim”, the monkey crawl, and what to do after a fall into the pool. All of these skills are taught in a way that’s both fun and educational, using games, repetition, and even songs, at a pace that’s healthy for your little one.

Yes! Sunsational specializes in private, at-home baby swimming lessons, where our instructors come directly to your pool or community facility in Keller. It’s the easiest way for your baby to learn in a calm, familiar setting.

We make scheduling easy. Morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend lessons are avaialble 6AM-8PM to fit your family’s lifestyle. You choose the days, times and number of lessons per week that works for you. Because all lessons are private, scheduling is completely flexible and can be adjusted for vacations or weather. In Keller, our instructors teach year-round, so you can start lessons whenever you’re ready.

Every child is unique and develops at their own pace. Physical and emotional readiness, motor skills and willingness all play a role in the pace your baby learns. However, the most common and most influential factors in the student’s learning pace we find is repetition and consistency. We recommend our baby students take 3 lessons per week for maximum skill retention and fast progression. Most of our students make significant progress within 12 to 18 lessons in our baby swim classes.

Yes. Swimming is not only defined as the four major swim strokes, but the ability to propel through the water. Your baby can learn how to use their little limbs, breathing and sense of direction to deliberately move from point a to b in the water, once they start walking. These skill sets are learned in a progressive manner and each child learns at a different pace. Our infant swim lesson teachers are experienced in coaching your baby to learn these skills in a fun, encouraging, and accelerated way. Even if your baby is not ready to swim, we'll work on swim and safety skills like blowing bubbles (breath control), kicking, rolling over onto our back and floating.

Your baby’s first swim lesson is designed to be gentle, fun, and completely pressure-free. The goal isn’t to make your baby swim right away—it’s to help them feel safe, happy, and relaxed in the water. Tears on the first day are not unexpected!

Your Sunsational instructor will start by introducing your baby to the pool gradually: gentle splashing, floating with support, and playful water exploration. Parents or caregivers are always encouraged to be present.

Most Keller parents begin lessons around 6 months old, when babies can comfortably hold their heads up and start exploring the water. Babies who have early exposure to swim lessons and the water are proven to have reduced anxieties and emotional obstacles learning how to swim. The water at this age is a familiar place as it’s similar to floating in the womb. Sunsational’s certified instructors offer private, at-home baby swimming lessons throughout Dallas, helping your little one feel confident and safe early on.

Absolutely. Every Sunsational instructor in Keller is certified in CPR and insured under our company liability insurance policy. What's more, every Sunsational swim instructor has a minimum of 2 season's of teaching experience. We emphasize comfort, floating, and water awareness—always at your baby’s pace.

Every child learns differently, but with consistent, one-on-one instruction, most Keller infants begin floating and showing swim readiness within our 12 or 18 lesson package. Sunsational’s personalized approach—taught in your own pool—helps babies progress faster than in group lessons. We find that the most common and most influential factors in the student’s learning pace are repetition and consistency. To that end, we recommend our baby students take 3 lessons per week for maximum skill retention and fast progression.

While we specialize in private, at-home infant swim classes in Keller, you do not need to have a pool to register for our lessons. Our infant swim teachers near you can meet you at any pool of your choice in Dallas. In some areas, we even have some swim instructors who can provide a pool for your lessons. To find out if we have instructors with pool access in your specific area, you can begin a registration here

We understand if you're concerned about selecting the right swim instructor for your lessons, because we are too! Our full-time, dedicated matching team carefully reviews your registration and hand selects a swim instructor for your lessons based on your swimmer's age, goals and your schedule. For baby and some toddler lessons, parent participation is encouraged for building water comfort. For older children (typically ages 2+), parents are not specifically encouraged to be in the water, as our one-on-one private instruction is designed to build independence. However, we always require a responsible adult to be present on the premises for all lessons with minors. If you have specific preferences or concerns, our team is happy to accommodate them in your registration. We tailor each lesson to your comfort and goals.
