I have worked for about 40 years in various settings with the San Bernardino YMCA, San Bernardino School District, San Bernardino Boys and Girls Club, and currently the YMCA of the East Valley. I have coached swimming, volleyball, basketball, boxing, and AAU wrestling. Besides teaching swim lessons at the YMCA, I also teach water aerobics, and in swimming, I have taught 7-month-old babies all the way to adults.

Hello my name is Mike, I've been swimming every year for over 30 years now. In high school and college I was the goalie and team captain. I also received the coaches award (#1 goalie of the year from all the coaches in San Bernardino county). I've been teaching kids of all ages how to swim and how to play water polo for over 30 years now and it's still fun. From May to September I try to swim at least 30 laps in my pool every day. I started swimming extremely young and have always loved the water because my grandparents always had a backyard pool. I had pool parties, took swim lessons, and would just swim for fun whenever I could. I got a job as a lifeguard and then a swim instructor when I was 16 and have done that ever since! I love my work and I love working with kids and ensuring everyone is safe and comfortable in the water.
