I was one of those kids who was afraid of the water and didnt know how to swim until my teenage years, when I fell in love with it. Since then, I have always been the last to get out of the pool. Later in life, I started working as a swim instructor and quickly realized that my past fears gave me a unique opportunity to form a strong bond with kids and adults of all ages struggling with their own fears of the water, just like I was. Im able to empathize and explain things to students in a way that made them truly understand things that they werent previously able to before, since I knew exactly where they were coming from.
