Hey there! My name is Katrina Otero. I've been working as a swim instructor since February 2018! During the school year, I work as a special needs aide, so I'm very comfortable working with neurodivergent kids. I've taught all ages, including adults. I love working with students who want to overcome their fear of the water and just need a helping hand. I was lucky enough to have parents who made swimming a priority. My mom took me to swim lessons at the local YMCA starting when I was 6 months old, and I havent stopped loving the water. I swam on the junior swim team and was a junior lifeguard and swim instructor as a teen at my local pool. As an adult, Ive competed in triathlons in the past, but what I love most is snorkeling, open-water swimming, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. I believe that having a good foundation in swimming opens up so many different opportunities in many outdoor activities, and Im excited to open those doors for my students.
