Jess was great! Very patient with my 2 and 3 years old grandchildren. Definitely would recommend your company for lessons. Both toddlers are more confident and have learned so much. It's giving this grandma a little bit of peace knowing that they are on their way to becoming better swimmers.

'Ms. Maia was so patient with our two kids. They learned so much from her! Very thankful for all they learned from her. Also, our three-year-old can now swim mostly independently.' - Lindsy P

Cole has been nothing short of amazing over the last 2 months. He is by far the best children's swim instructor we've seen - he keeps a fastpace, which keeps the kids interested and attentive. He's supportive, encouraging and has made outstanding progress with both of our kids. He took our 5 year old from being afraid to put her head under water in the first lesson to swimming free-style w/ side breath the length of the pool. And, he took our 2 year old from being deathly afraid of the pool to safely getting in and out the side of the pool on his own, 'monkey' scaling the side of the pool & blowing bubbles. We are most grateful for having had the opportunity to work with such a knowledgeable and kind instructor!

Melissa M.

We loved working with Stephanie this summer. My two year old twins made so much progress in the water and had a fantastic time. Stephanie was very patient and always made our lessons fun!!

'Great swim instructor. She really knows how to work with the kids even when they don't want to do it. 10/10'

I researched several swim schools and decided on Sunsational and I am SO glad I did! They have the bios of each instructor so I was able to research them and they were so willing to work with me to find a female instructor for my 2 grand daughters ages 2 & 4! We were very blessed to get Renee and WOW! She was SO patient and calming with the girls and worked with our schedule! By the 3rd lesson the 4 year old was starting to overcome her fear of putting her face in the water and able to swim several feet! Highly recommend this school and Renee if you're lucky enough to get her!

Denise S.

I considered several swimming schools in my area and ultimately ended up with Sunsational. I now know that I made the best decision. Ivan was a wonderful instructor. Initially my 2-year-old daughter was hesitant to stay in the pool with him, by the conclusion of her lessons, her swimming improved greatly and was running to greet Ivan for her session. I definitely recommend sunsational.

Erica H.

We purchased the 12 30min lesson package for our 22 month old. It was the best decision we've ever made. I can't say enough great things about our experience with our instructor, Savannah Moore. Our girl went from crying, screaming and signing 'help me' during the first lesson to jumping in the water, going under water and then reaching for the wall during her last lesson. Savannah's patience during the meltdowns was amazing to watch (and truly inspiring. Ha!) We will absolutely be requesting Savannah next year's swim lessob

Sunsational Swim school was amazing!! My son's coach was Marie W. and I seriously can't say enough great things about her! She was AMAZING! My son is 2 & 1/2 and he's a tough customer. Marie was patient, kind, fun, & gave 100% every lesson! She played fun games and came up with on the spot ideas to help get my son engaged and interested. Right away he trusted her and bonded. He couldn't wait to go to swim lessons every day to see Ms. Marie! Highly recommend Marie!!! Thanks for everything Sunsational Swim and Marie!! Thanks to you, my son is swimming like a fish!

Amber C.

We had a wonderful experience with Ivan as our daughter Olivia's swim teacher. Over the course of 12 lessons, Ivan consistently showed up prepared, on time, and fully engaged. At the beginning, Olivia was quite timid and hesitant in the water, but Ivan's patient and kind approach helped her quickly build trust and confidence. As the weeks went on, we saw incredible growth not only in her comfort level but also in her swimming abilities. Ivan had a great way of making the lessons fun while still focusing on important safety skills, which was perfect for our two-year-old. After each session, Ivan took the time to give me a detailed summary of what they had worked on and how Olivia was progressing. He was also very flexible with scheduling, which we really appreciated. We're so grateful for the positive experience Ivan provided. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a swim instructor who is professional, caring, and great with young children.

Shalin M.

'Ms. Evy is AMAZING! She handled my 5-year-old very well but my 2 1/2-year-old is the really challenging one. He worked very hard to find ways to connect with him and was so patient. She knows how to speak to children in these age ranges and make the lesson fun. She went above and beyond with how difficult the younger one was to get him to come around. We are very lucky she was able to work with our kiddos.' Crystal G.

While we initially had issues with finding an instructor that was a good fit for our toddler, we did eventually find one. Sunsational was very helpful and worked with us to find a the right instructor. Abbie has been amazing. Our son really enjoys his lessons with her and has made great improvements. He is 16 months old and is kicking, going under water, and loving the water. Abbie is so kind and easy going. She doesn't force our son to do anything that makes him uncomfortable. She has been very flexible with scheduling and making changes. Even during our lessons if T is getting fussy, she understands and we end the lesson a few minutes or so early. I highly recommend this company for swim lessons. Thank you Abbie and Sunsational!

Coach GiGi was great with our 2.5 year old twins! We saw so much progress with going underwater, climbing out of the pool, diving for toys, and overall comfort in the water. She was patient with them and worked with them individually at their own pace. We feel so much better about having them at the pool - now it's both safe and fun! Thank you for a great experience!

Victoria has been so helpful in introducing water safety and swim fundamentals to my toddler. Her patience and her tips have been appreciated and useful. I can certainly see progress and look forward to future lessons!

Sofia, the instructor we have been paired with, is great with my kids, and they were so scared of putting their heads under water before starting, and I’ve seen so much progress in 4 lessons so far. I’m very happy with sunsational swim school! - Natasha Banos

Ivan was a fantastic instructor! He was engaging and make the lessons fun for my son. He was on time and had great communication with us! My son is 22 months and he made him feel confident with water safety. We are so happy he can get to the edges of the pool and climb out. He can even do fun activities like getting toys from the bottom of the pool! Would recommend him to anyone!

Anastacia U.

'Our instructor Aimee was absolutely amazing! She worked with our daughter (22 months) and was able to get her extremely comfortable in the water after just 12 lessons. Thank you, Aimee!' Danielle P.

**We absolutely loved Coach Cat!** She was incredible with my two toddlers — full of energy, perfectly in tune with their needs, and so skilled at keeping them excited, engaged, and learning. My girls were excited to see Coach Cat every single time. That’s huge for us! Her flexibility with scheduling was a huge bonus for our busy family, and I especially appreciated that we could work it out directly with her. One of the things we loved most was that they got to learn to swim where they’ll actually be swimming. Coach Cat knew exactly how to gently push them a little further without ever making them fearful — even when it came to going underwater. My 3-year-old can *actually swim* now, which I honestly didn’t expect to see so soon. That’s specifically thanks to Cat. On the last day, she even became a mermaid for them — such a magical, memorable moment! They’re still talking about it. Thank you, Coach Cat, for being so sweet and intentional with your teaching. My girls truly connected with you, and we’re so grateful!

Kelsi R.

'Jessie was perfect. She was great with our child. Our child improved dramatically with Jessie. Our child really enjoyed and looked forward to her time with Jessie. It was a great experience.' - Chris P.

Chris P.

Reilly is an excellent swim instructor. My three-year-old son can be difficult to deal with. He was afraid of the water and very emotional during the early lessons. Reilly was extremely patient with him, gained his trust and he ended up making great progress. I highly recommend Reilly for swim lessons.

Paul K.

Danielle is fantastic! My 2.5 yo took lessons from her for six consecutive days and could float, kick and find the steps and wall. She is kind and patient but also consistent and firm. We feel so lucky to have been matched with her!

5 reasons to start swim lessons for your baby now

Many Windemere parents wonder if their baby is too young to start learning to swim. They think babies will eventually learn the skills on their own, or that the skill isn’t necessary. Here’s why starting lessons early is a smart choice:

Water safety starts early

Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children under four. Babies are naturally curious, which is why baby swimming lessons make so much sense. An awareness of the water, and water safety skills, could very well save your child’s life one day.

Decreased risk of drowning

It’s impossible to watch over your children every second. Most daycare facilities have pool or splash days during the summer or have field trips that include water fun. Children can drown in less than 1 inch of water, particularly if the person is under the age of 4. Swimming lessons help decrease the risk of drowning.

Encourages social interaction

Swimming and playing in the pool with parents and other babies helps boost babies' social development.  Babies learn through shared experiences, laughter, and engaging in activities together. Your child shouldn't have to skip these character-forming moments due to a fear of the water or because you simply haven't found the time for swim lessons.

Builds their strength

For babies, swimming helps strengthen their muscles, improve coordination, and enhance their motor skills – all without any unnecessary stress on joints. Plus, the water’s resistance provides a full-body workout, even for the tiniest of swimmers. Swimming may even help learn to walk sooner thanks to better muscle control.

Lifelong skill that starts early

Swimming is a skill for life. Providing your baby with swimming lessons opens up a whole new arena of fun and fitness that they can participate in all their lives. If you don't know how to swim, consider taking a parent and baby swim class together or taking adult swim lessons on your own. Create core memories in the water, together!

How parent and baby swim lessons help build confidence around the water

Babies as young as six months old benefit from pool time in the arms of a trusted adult. Infant swim lessons allow your child to enjoy the water before they have a chance to learn fear. Positive pool experiences help babies remain calm so they can progress to learn effective water navigation skills such as kicking and back floats.

How parent and baby swim lessons help image
75%of children who drown were out of sight for five minutes or less
9 out of 10drowning deaths occur while an adult is present

The benefits of swim lessons extend beyond the pool. The sensory and motor stimulation resulting from pool time creates new neurons that positively impact confidence and even intelligence. Bilateral movements, or using both sides of the body, help increase the connections between the two hemispheres of the brain, which will later help with skills like language development, spatial awareness and reading.

How to prepare your baby for swim lessons

Not ready for a formal class yet? Start at home! Simple activities in the bathtub, like gently pouring water over your baby’s head, introducing words like “kick” and “splash”, or laying them on their back in shallow water, can help them feel comfortable in the water before their first lesson.

When you’re ready for the pool, help your baby be successful with these tips:

  • 1
Feed them at least 30 minutes before a lesson to prevent tummy discomfort
  • 2
Pack essentials like swim diapers, towels, dry clothes, and fresh diapers
  • 3
Arrive early so you have time to get ready
  • 4
Ease into the water to keep the experience positive

Water safety is always the number one priority

Even the most comprehensive and successful water training program isn’t enough to drown-proof your child. Babies should always be within arm’s reach in the water, and children should never swim unsupervised. The goal of baby swimming lessons is to reduce the chance of accidental drowning, but it can’t guarantee to prevent it completely. Even if your little one was the star of the class, you should still be vigilant in your supervision to ensure that the water provides positive experiences for years to come.

Got questions?

We have answers. What age can babies start swim lessons?

No. Sunsational Swim School’s infant swim lessons are based on a child-centered and caring approach that focuses on building trust and rapport with the instructor and wonderment and respect of the water. When designing your baby’s swim lesson plan, our instructors consider all aspects of the well-being of your baby, including physical and emotional. Your swim instructor will create a safe environment for your baby to learn water-safety skills that include back floating, roll over breathing, “swim-float-swim”, the monkey crawl, and what to do after a fall into the pool. All of these skills are taught in a way that’s both fun and educational, using games, repetition, and even songs, at a pace that’s healthy for your little one.

Yes! Sunsational specializes in private, at-home baby swimming lessons, where our instructors come directly to your pool or community facility in Windemere. It’s the easiest way for your baby to learn in a calm, familiar setting.

We make scheduling easy. Morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend lessons are avaialble 6AM-8PM to fit your family’s lifestyle. You choose the days, times and number of lessons per week that works for you. Because all lessons are private, scheduling is completely flexible and can be adjusted for vacations or weather. In Windemere, our instructors teach year-round, so you can start lessons whenever you’re ready.

Every child is unique and develops at their own pace. Physical and emotional readiness, motor skills and willingness all play a role in the pace your baby learns. However, the most common and most influential factors in the student’s learning pace we find is repetition and consistency. We recommend our baby students take 3 lessons per week for maximum skill retention and fast progression. Most of our students make significant progress within 12 to 18 lessons in our baby swim classes.

Yes. Swimming is not only defined as the four major swim strokes, but the ability to propel through the water. Your baby can learn how to use their little limbs, breathing and sense of direction to deliberately move from point a to b in the water, once they start walking. These skill sets are learned in a progressive manner and each child learns at a different pace. Our infant swim lesson teachers are experienced in coaching your baby to learn these skills in a fun, encouraging, and accelerated way. Even if your baby is not ready to swim, we'll work on swim and safety skills like blowing bubbles (breath control), kicking, rolling over onto our back and floating.

Your baby’s first swim lesson is designed to be gentle, fun, and completely pressure-free. The goal isn’t to make your baby swim right away—it’s to help them feel safe, happy, and relaxed in the water. Tears on the first day are not unexpected!

Your Sunsational instructor will start by introducing your baby to the pool gradually: gentle splashing, floating with support, and playful water exploration. Parents or caregivers are always encouraged to be present.

Most Windemere parents begin lessons around 6 months old, when babies can comfortably hold their heads up and start exploring the water. Babies who have early exposure to swim lessons and the water are proven to have reduced anxieties and emotional obstacles learning how to swim. The water at this age is a familiar place as it’s similar to floating in the womb. Sunsational’s certified instructors offer private, at-home baby swimming lessons throughout Austin, helping your little one feel confident and safe early on.

Absolutely. Every Sunsational instructor in Windemere is certified in CPR and insured under our company liability insurance policy. What's more, every Sunsational swim instructor has a minimum of 2 season's of teaching experience. We emphasize comfort, floating, and water awareness—always at your baby’s pace.

Every child learns differently, but with consistent, one-on-one instruction, most Windemere infants begin floating and showing swim readiness within our 12 or 18 lesson package. Sunsational’s personalized approach—taught in your own pool—helps babies progress faster than in group lessons. We find that the most common and most influential factors in the student’s learning pace are repetition and consistency. To that end, we recommend our baby students take 3 lessons per week for maximum skill retention and fast progression.

While we specialize in private, at-home infant swim classes in Windemere, you do not need to have a pool to register for our lessons. Our infant swim teachers near you can meet you at any pool of your choice in Austin. In some areas, we even have some swim instructors who can provide a pool for your lessons. To find out if we have instructors with pool access in your specific area, you can begin a registration here

We understand if you're concerned about selecting the right swim instructor for your lessons, because we are too! Our full-time, dedicated matching team carefully reviews your registration and hand selects a swim instructor for your lessons based on your swimmer's age, goals and your schedule. You'll receive a detailed instructor profile with experience, certifications, and reviews. If you'd like to request a specific instructor in Windemere, we'll do our best to accommodate. But rest assured that we stand behind each of our swim instructors and selections with our Satisfaction Guarantee.

For baby and some toddler lessons, parent participation is encouraged for building water comfort. For older children (typically ages 2+), parents are not specifically encouraged to be in the water, as our one-on-one private instruction is designed to build independence. However, we always require a responsible adult to be present on the premises for all lessons with minors. If you have specific preferences or concerns, our team is happy to accommodate them in your registration. We tailor each lesson to your comfort and goals.
