A little background: my love for the water was extended beyond the womb to a birthing pool in Coney Island, NYC. If my parents tried to end bath time, I would protest, leaving the bathtub until my skin resembled a bleached prune. At a young age, I joined the NYC Parks Swim Team Club, representing Brooklyn, and was fortunate to sustain a winning record as I later transitioned to junior Olympics and then to the Olympic trials.
